36th Youth Festival Program

This year’s spiritual retreat for the youth – Youth Festival will be held in Medjugorje from August 4th to 8th. The theme of this year’s 36th Youth Festival is “Let us go to the house of the Lord” (Ps 122:1), and this is the theme of all this year’s spiritual retreats in Medjugorje.

This year’s Youth Festival begins on Monday, August 4th, with an evening prayer program held at the White Dome of the Church of St. James in Medjugorje. The Rosary is at 6 p.m., followed by the opening of the Youth Festival, Holy Mass and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

The following day, the program begins at 6 am with the Rosary on Apparition Hill, and then continues from 9 a.m. at the White Dome of the Church of St. James with prayer, catechesis and testimonies until noon with the Angelus, and the afternoon part of the program begins with testimonies at 4 p.m., the Rosary at 6 p.m., the Holy Mass at 7 p.m., and then a procession with the statue of Our Lady and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the morning program begins at 9 a.m. with prayer, catechesis and testimonies until noon, with the Angelus, and continues at 4 p.m. with testimonies and an evening prayer program, the Rosary at 6 p.m. and Holy Mass at 7 p.m. On Wednesday after Holy Mass there is Prayer before the Cross, and on Thursday, the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Mission. This spiritual retreat for young people ends on Friday, August 8, with Holy Mass on Cross Mountain at 5 a.m.

The parish office reminds you to bring a small FM radio and headphones, a Bible and a parasol, and urges groups participating in the Youth Festival not to plan other programs.

“During the Youth Festival, Holy Masses for pilgrims don’t take place in the morning. All pilgrims will come to main Holy Masses in the evening, together with the young people,” the organizers announced, and simultaneous translation is provided into Croatian, English, Italian, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Slovak, Slovenian, Hungarian, Romanian, Russian, Czech, Ukrainian, Korean, Arabic, Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese Chinese during the entire duration of the Youth Festival.
