Spiritual retreat for married couples in Medjugorje concluded

The 24th International Spiritual Retreat for Married Couples, which was held this week on the theme “Let us go to the house of the Lord!” (Ps 122:1), concluded with a thanksgiving mass in which the participants renewed their marriage vows in Medjugorje.

About fifty married couples from 15 countries participated in this spiritual retreat, which was led by the parish vicar of Medjugorje, Fr. Jure Barišić.

The participants had morning prayer, lectures, adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, and also participated in a prayer program in the church of St. James and prayed on the Apparition Hill, Cross Mountain…

”It was wonderful for us, we have been coming to Medjugorje for many years. This is our second visit to the spiritual retreat for married couples. The first visit left a great impression on me and my wife, we decided to come to this meeting every year. These really leave a very good impression on both of us, spiritually and in all other areas. Prayer is strength, I think that in this prayer my husband and I can further unite and grow in faith. We can contribute a lot to our family, our children, bring them here tomorrow and give them a great blessing,” said Ljilja Butić from Prkos, a place in Škabrnja.

“My wife and I have seven children and they agreed to provide us with a place at this spiritual renewal. We like it very much. This is our first time participating, and our second time in Medjugorje. So this is a new experience for me. I am very happy that the introduction to the spiritual renewal program was more like those young people entering into marriage, or the ways in which young people should be guided before entering into marriage. There are some things I did not know, I did not practice…” said Ivan Čuljak from the area around Slavonski Brod.

The next in a series of spiritual retreat in Medjugorje is the one for pilgrimage organizers, leaders of peace centers, prayer and charity groups related to Medjugorje, which is being held for the 30th time and lasts from March 10th to 14th. (PHOTOS)
