Another spiritual retreat for young people, the 35th Youth Festival, ended with a Holy Mass at 5 o’clock presided over by Medjugorje parish priest Br. Zvonimir Pavičić, this morning on the feast of the Transfiguration.
Hundreds of young people climbed all night, some went to Cross Mountain right after the evening Holy Mass and slept there.
“Dear young people, today we celebrate the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord – that event when Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and was transfigured in front of them. We also managed to climb a hill. On this hill, many experienced a transformation. Jesus changed their life here. They believed in Jesus, opened their hearts to him and he transformed them into new people. He also invites us today to open our hearts to him to make us new people, to be true Christians, those who are always looking for Jesus and want to live with Him. We in Medjugorje enjoyed the presence of Jesus in prayer, in song, in the Eucharist, in adoration… Let’s take it with us to our homes. May all that we have received here remain with us and in us, so that we too can transform this world to bring all people to Jesus. Don’t forget these days, don’t forget these moments, how nice we were with the Lord and with everyone who was at the Youth Festival, because it’s always nice to be near God. He always makes us better people. He transforms us into better people. Let us therefore ask Him to always keep us close to Him, and may His and our mother Queen of Peace always follow us with her intercession and thus help us to always be at the feet of Jesus, to listen to His words and thus choose the better part that will not be taken away from us”, said Br. Zvonimir Pavičić in his homily, and throughout the morning the young people came down from Cross Mountain with song and prayer on their lips, announcing their arrival at the following Youth Festival.
During the past few days, tens of thousands of young people from 80 countries celebrated Holy Masses in Medjugorje, listened to catechesis and lectures, as well as numerous testimonies, prayed on Apparition Hill and Cross Mountain and confessed…
