The second day of his stay in Uruguay began with the meeting of Medjugorje parish priest Br. Zvonimir Pavičić with 14 priests from different parishes in Montevideo, among whom was the bishop emeritus. Only three of them were in Medjugorje. He told them about the history of Medjugorje, the apparitions, the Franciscans, pastoral care in the parish, the official position of the Church and some of the statistics. The priests present asked him many questions and thanked him for his visit. At the end, Br. Zvonimir presented them with small gifts that he had brought from Medjugorje for this occasion.
In the afternoon, the pastor of Medjugorje met with Cardinal Daniel Fernando Sturl, Archbishop of Montevideo and Primate of Uruguay, who was very open and interested in what Br. Zvonimir shared with him. In the meeting, which lasted an hour and took place in an atmosphere of fellowship and joy, the reasons for the visit to Uruguay and the Church’s official position on Medjugorje were discussed.
Bishop Daniel Sturla was very impressed that the evening prayer program in Medjugorje is translated into nine languages simultaneously every day of the year, and when Br. Zvonimir spoke to him about the statistics and the presence of hundreds of priests. The coordinators of the Medjugorje Center Foundation were also present at the meeting. At the end, Br. Zvonimir presented the cardinal with Fr. Slavko Barbarić’s book.
During his visit to Uruguay, Br. Zvonimir gave interviews for the Catholic media, for Radio María Uruguay and for Radio Oriental, the radio station of the Archdiocese of Montevideo.
He spoke about conversions in Medjugorje, spiritual healings, the attitude of the Church, the history of Medjugorje and the apparitions, the number of pilgrims who come every year and, as he said, “they are looking for God”.
The prayer meeting in the afternoon of the second day in Uruguay was held in the parish of Our Lady of Lourdes, in Malvína, a neighborhood in the city of Montevideo, where the parish priest, Father Antonio Bonzani, greeted about 300 believers who came to hear Our Lady’s message. The program was the same as the previous day, and consisted of praying the rosary, where Friar Zvonimir sang litanies and the Salve Regina at the end of the rosary.
Then the celebration was celebrated, led by Father Marcelo Marciano, and Br. Zvonimir Pavičić gave a homily and also held a catechesis after the Holy Mass.
Upon arrival in Montevideo, Br. Zvonimir was welcomed by Father Marcelo Marciano, who testified at this year’s Youth Festival, and Br. Zvonimir also met with members of the Medjugorje Center foundation, and at the end Br. Zvonimir held a catechesis while celebrating the Holy Mass.
